Have you felt overwhelmed and confused when your child has a tantrum at the store? What was the trigger? Why can't you get them to calm down?
As a pediatric occupational therapist, I have worked with so many families who are overwhelmed and embarrassed by their child's sensory meltdowns in public. I see a large need for effective parent education outside of a therapy setting, which is why I've developed this parent empowerment program.
You might be wondering how this course may change your experience in the community with your child? Through education and tested strategies, my course will empower you with techniques to recognize the triggers of a sensory overload and provide strategies to implement prior to a full sensory meltdown. As a trained sensory support specialist, I have supported so many families while working as a full time OT implement redirection strategies, develop sensory tools and techniques to assist their child in calming themselves during the day. If your child is more calm, you are more inclined to go venture into the community.
This course is designed for families who are stressed and overwhelmed, those parents who feel confused as to why their child becomes upset when leaving the park or has screaming tantrums getting into their car seat. This course is for you. To empower you. To make life easier. To help you regain your confidence when out and about with your family.
Your Instructor
Hello everyone!
As a pediatric occupational therapist working with families with children with a variety of sensory needs, parent education has been such a crucial part of my therapies. By demonstrating a calming technique like deep pressure squishes with their child, I am progressing with a visual demonstration and verbally explaining my therapeutic reasoning behind it.
In my practice, I recognize how valuable the time is to educate the family's on sensory strategies for their child. Now, to adapt this and make it completely based on the parent’s schedule and increase flexibility of gaining this important information. This is why I've developed this course! It takes into consideration the parent's time schedule and allows short videos to be completed on their own timeframe.
I am so excited to share more confidence building strategies for parents to gather additional sensory strategies and insight to use with redirecting their child and in the community.
Sharing my love of helping families and children cope with sensory processing difficulties as a sensory support specialist!
All my best!
